Feel Good Graduation

Boy, it doesn't take long for "spring" life to get in the way of hobby and fun. I took the time play this morning while the rest of the house slept.

I was able to play along with 5 different challenges for this card.

Mojo Monday for the sketch.

The Pink Elephant for the Theme: Graduation
Make My Monday for an additional theme: Nature
And finally 2 different Splitcoast Stampers challenges. Monday's Try a New Technique  (Stamping using embossing folders) and Tuesday's Colour Combo (Crisp Pistachio Garden).

I have to say, I don't use Crisp Cantaloupe very often and it proved a bit challenging to incorporate here. But I think it turned out ok. The technique was to ink up your background embossing folder, spritz it with water, lay your paper on top, then gently press with your fingers to transfer ink to paper. I inked to top of my leaves (Nature, along with the punched out flower and leaflet) in Pistachio Pudding and the bottom who Garden Green for the ombre effect, but it did come out like I wanted. Looks more like all one colour, Pistachio Pudding. I didn't have any Crisp Cantaloupe ribbon (I know, I couldn't believe it either. I have all the other colours.) So I found my stash of a long ago retired Groovy Guava ribbon. Almost a perfect match, Crisp Cantaloupe is brighter where Groovy Guava is dull.

The Feel Good stamp set was perfect for the Graduation theme. Popped it up with dimensionals. Added a little bling. And voila!

Deck the Halls in May

This is my second post of the day. Keep scrolling after this one to see a 3-in-1 challenge card from 4 Crafty Chicks, CAS - Colours and Sketches, and Colour Me...!

My second card for today is another Christmas card.

When I saw this sketch from Tis' The Season I knew that I would use the Label Card thinlits. I have not use this die as often as I thought, so it was time to dig it out, dust it off, and put it to good use. Tis' the Season also linked their challenge with lovely Jingle Belles, whose only requirement was to add BLING.

Needed to take two different pictures for you to get the full effect of this wonderful card. My bling is the silver pearls, I really did have to control myself and not go too wild with them.

Merry and Type stamp set added a great background on the right flap. The DSP is from Fresh Prints and Season of Style packs, they complimented each other very well here.

If I keep playing along with these Christmas challenges, I'll be done before the season even starts. Why don't you play along too?

Flower Blossoms

Another early morning of stamping fun today. I was able to create 2 cards today playing with 5 different challenges.

First up, scoped out the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge of the week since Lori is my friend and all, and they wanted FLOWERS on the card. I can soooo do that, easily, that's my kind of card. Then onto Colour Me...! for some colour inspiration. Theirs is a Wednesday challenge and since this is the first week of May, it's a monochromatic challenge using Cherry Cobbler. That works with flowers too, woohoo! Now to go find a sketch. Found a great one over at CAS - Colours and Sketches. Put them all together and this is what I came up with:

Mixed Bunch and Petite Petals provided the beautiful flowers. I added a bit of looped twine for flare and Itty Bitty Banner stamp set and die cut for the sentiment. Turned out gorgeous!

This Too Shall Pass

I think I am most productive in the wee early A.M. Produce another card using two different challenges.

I started with Seize The Sketch. Ooooh, banners. Hearts a Flutter stamp set it is. But that wasn't as easy as I thought. My issue was more trying to make the colours work together. So I stamped a few different banners in each colour and finally found something that I like. It could also be that I was over-thinking it.

I had moseyed on over to Colour Q for the colour inspiration. Love this, even though it proved a tad challenging.

And so now the cards. Used the Banner Blast stamp set from the Sale-a-Bration and coordinating punch. Odd that I had these since February and only inked it up today. Same goes for the From the Heart stamp set. I love the way it turned out.

So if you have time today, please go to your craft space and create something beautiful.

The Pink Elephant Mother's Day

This morning I played along with yesterday's challenge from The Pink Elephant #249: Mother's Day theme. I had already made my mother a card for this event, didn't need another so the sentiment is temporarily stuck on till I took the picture. Not sure if I'll be going with a get well or sympathy sentiment yet.

I also played along with Splitcoast Stampers Monday Clean and Simple Cards challenge #271, where you visit Arizona Maine's card gallery, pick a card, and CASE it with your own spin on it. I picked this one HERE. You may have to be a member of Splitcoast Stampers to view it, and I recommend you do because there is great inspiration to be found there as well as talented card makers, tutorials, and daily challenges. Here's my card:
Okay, I wasn't very good at adding my own twist. I just popped the sentiment, changed the dsp and stamp set. Don't you just LOVE that stamp set: Stippled Blossom. Sentiment is from the Delightful Dozen set. The colours I used are: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, and Baked Brown Sugar. Used the Bigshot for the trim (Tasteful Trim), the oval (oval framelits), and the sentiment (old labels die).

Today is a busy day off for me again. Hopefully I can get around to playing with another challenge this evening with my Crafty Inkettes.

Merry Monday #107

I was awake bright and early this morning, like 4am ugh, so it was perfect timing to play around in my craft space in the basement. I can be quiet and let the rest of the house sleep yet still be doing something.

I've been spying on my friend's blog lately (I mentioned her yesterday too, Lori), at all the challenge she plays around with as a designer. I am going to try to participate in every one this week, starting with Merry Monday Christmas Challenge.

Isn't this a great sketch to work with. I needed to turn it landscape to fit my image nicely.

Once I decided on the stamp set: Something For Christmas, Winter Frost dsp popped into my head. From there, it was a no brainer which colours I was going to use and try the latest ombre trend. Nailed it! (IMHO)

Other stamp sets I used: Ornament Keepsakes, A Banner Christmas, and Mixed Medley.
Colours: Soft Sky, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Bermuday Bay, Indigo Island.

Why don't you give this sketch a try??? And get started on your Christmas cards, it's never too early for that.

Gotta run now, literally. I am signed up for a 10K race on the May long weekend so I better get my miles in. Even though it snowed this past weekend, most of it melted on the paths so that I can go outside and enjoy the crisp air.

A Come Back

I have finally decided to come back to the Blog world. Can't believe it's been over 2 years. Holy Crow!! Where did the time go?? Now that doesn't mean that I've stopped stampin'. I would never do that, I love it too much!!

I have been very influenced and inspired by Lori Turner from Inkingly Yours. She is a great friend, run buddy, shopping diva and so much more. Very talented too. I visit her blog often and wish I can make the effort play as often.

Sneak peek shot of my monthly Crafty Inkettes United Stampin' Up! group. I always make 4 cards. This year the idea is to make 1 masculine, 1 child, 2 female. But this month, I made 2 children cards because they were just so cute and easy to make. All of these were CASEd (copy and share everything), as are most of my cards. These are also found on Pinterest, my main source of inspiration.

This kids card is so adorable. Love the colours, the layout, just everything about it. Must give credit to Beth from Card Creations by Beth for this beauty. I also had a kids group make this one. They love it! Especially the punch part.

This card uses the Create a Cupcake stamp set, cupcake builder punch, Fresh Prints paper pack DSP.

This is the second kids card. Haven't played with the Oh Whale! stamp set often enough. There's even a clearlits die for the Bigshot that cuts out the whale and the anchor and more. I passed Whisper White card stock strips with an embossing folder then punch out the cloud shape with the cupcake top of the cupcake builder punch. Clever idea, eh! Put those and the whale on dimensionals and it just makes it pop. Credit for this card goes to Kim from Joyful Creations with Kim.
This inspiration comes from Tanja of the Seid kreativ mit Tanja blog. The blog may not be in English but the card needs no translation. I am going to guess that she lives in Denmark.

I changed the stamp set to Gorgeous Grunge and Extreme Elements from what she used. I didn't need at 40th birthday card, so changed that too. Easy peasy with a punch of wow are my favourite type of cards to make.
And last but not least, my favourite of all cards for this month. The girls might of hated me for all the fussy cutting of the flowers and leaves but it was worth it, wouldn't you say so? I even love the colours chosen. And isn't the Hardwood stamp set just the best??? Didn't even have to think about buying that one. And the Stippled Blossom stamp set, yeah looked at in the catalog, didn't care for it much but then....

Ann from The Stampin' Schach did an amazing job creating this card.

Until next time, happy stampin'!
